The Home Office is in San Diego, California, and there are trained practitioners and Certified Training Associates in over 40 other states and 30 countries. The company has developed an innovative approach to marketing its natural hair care system to African American women. Authorized Consultants offer Sisterlocks as a package of 3 visits including the Consultation, Sisterlocks Establishment and your first retightening.
The Consultation
Congratulations on taking the first step in your Sisterlocks journey! The consultation will last approximately one hour. During the consultation we will discuss your personal hair care history, your styling preferences and your lifestyle in order to determine if Sisterlocks is right for you. You will also have some "sample locks" put in your hair to see if they will hold. The purpose of the sample locks is to determine your hair texture and density and to choose which locking pattern is best suited for your hair type. Your hair must be clean, free of any oils or conditioners and without braids or extensions. Your unique natural hair texture affects the appearance of you Sisterlocks.
The consultation is essential for both you and your Consultant to ensure you get your Sisterlocks done in the most suitable way. Now you are ready to book a date for your Sisterlocks Establishment!
The Establishment
The moment you have been waiting for! Be ready to binge watch the latest shows on Netflix or Hulu because the Sisterlocks establishment takes several hours over a few days. The duration of the establishment varies for each client. Most Sisterlocks clients will have an average of 450 locks established and a whole new attitude! You will receive a "Starter Kit" that includes the proper shampoo for starting your locks and tiny rubber bands to braid and band your hair with.
First Retightening/Follow Up
Time for that “fresh Reti!” This visit should be scheduled after at least two shampoos, which is usually within one month from the date of your Establishment. Your Consultant will monitor the integrity of your locks and tighten them up. This is an opportunity to ask any questions and discuss styling options.
Ongoing Re-tightening
You locks will be re-tightened every 4 - 6 weeks. This way the progress of your locks can be easily monitored. You can expect the re-tightening to take a few hours as long as you maintain a consistent re-tightening schedule. Extended periods of time in between re-tightenings will result in longer locking sessions and the integrity of your locks can be compromised.
Proper maintenance is the key to gorgeous Sisterlocks over time.
In order for Sisterlocks to be uniform in appearance and remain strong and healthy, we must form a partnership. This partnership means agreeing to be consistent with retightening appointments, following post appointment instructions and using recommended Sisterlocks products exclusively.
